The Big Announcement.

There aren't many days when he feels this nervous. In fact, he can probably count on one hand the number of times he'd felt every part of his innards knot and clench.

Fatherhood made him happy. Telling everyone else about it made the words run from his mouth, to have him as speechless as he is now.

Meet them at Dot's Diner, he'd told them, once the message had been given to everyone they wanted to have there.

Well? What are you waiting for? Tell them, he told himself, while waiting for everyone to assemble themselves.

Doing his best to calm himself, he wrapped an arm about AndrAIa's waist, and rested his hand against her belly.

"Everyone? We have something very important we want to share with you..."

Enzo has a sudden feeling of réjà vu*, and for a crazy moment he thinks Matrix is going to make his announcement.

No, jeez, Enzo, don't be stupid. Besides, his counterpart doesn't look at all unhappy. Just very nervous. Now that's weird.

Dot, merely feels an all too familiar rise in bloodpressure, a pre-emptive stressing about what's about to be said. Because in order.

1) Matrix looks nervous.
2) So does AndrAIa.
3) They need to say something, very important.

The last one is more worrying, more from the experience of 'there is something I/we need to tell you...' being said isn't generally calm and shiny.

Bob is carefully keeping his expression neutral.

He doesn't want a repeat of the last big reveal any more than Matrix does.

You think this is stressful on either Enzo? Try being the father of the same boy twice. Welman doesn't know the exact nature of this announcement, but as a father and a scientist...he has a few guesses.

Though he looks externally calm - insofar as he can express such an appearance - his nullified insides are in a state of agitation and expectation. Welman says nothing, for now.

Don't worry Bob; Matrix will keep your part in this secret if you want him to.

Shuffling through his vocabulary for the Right Words To Say, he decides that simplicity is the better part of eloquence.

With a very light squeeze to AndrAIa, he gives everyone attending a warm smile.

"We're gonna have a baby."

Matrix's presence next to her is the only thing keeping her from cringing at the expected reaction from their gathered family. Instead, she flashes them a vaguely nervous smile.

"It's a bit unexpected, I know.."

Okay, the null was relieved, in a way. More like...overjoyed. But that still counts, right? Unexepcted, though? Well then, he had to quip...

"I wouldn't call it that."

He'd been anticipating more grandkids. It doesn't take a quantum scientist to figure that out.

Enzo, on the other hand, is out of his seat.

"I'm gonna be a dad?!"

Um. Let's say, unexpected to some.

Alright, you can't SEE the face, but you know he's trying to make one. It's that parental tone you use on your child to make him rethink that last statement.

Bob just shakes his head and smiles at Matrix and AndrAIa. "Congratulations, you two."

Matrix is giving his copy a ¬¬ face. And having a face to make one with, it's easier to see it.

Hopefully the message of "You're not the father; I am" is getting through.

"Phong told us last second," Matrix begins. "AndrAIa was feeling tired, so we went to see him about it."

Mostly that's true, but to make sure Bob's not ratted out, Phong will be getting a visit very soon to make sure what's shaded over is kept mum.

AndrAIa shoots Enzo her own, vaguely exasperated look before turning her attention back to everyone else.

"We would have told you all earlier, but we wanted to wait for everyone to be here."

Enzo sees your looks, and perhaps they will register once he's done freaking out.

"A dad. I'm a dad and I haven't even passed puberty yet..."

Y'know, if he were closer, Matrix would have given you a flick to your ear, Enzo.

As it is, he's not, so he'll just glower.

"Thanks Bob, and you can put away any notions about you being the father, Enzo. You're not."

"You know what I mean! There's gonna be a baby with my code! That's... really freaky!" Flail!

Dramatic eyeroll. "In case you haven't noticed, our whole family is kind of strange."

"Enzo, as much as it's the same code, it's not you who fathered the baby." Dot says in the 'drop it' tone of voice.

She's about to flick his ear as well, honestly.

"I'm so happy for you two, really."

"Thanks Sis. That means a lot to me."

From happy to grumpy to happy again.

Matrix must be taking lessons from Hex.

AndrAIa nods, smiling happily.

"It means a lot to both of us."
